No-Spend Mother's Day Gifts
This Sunday is Mother's Day, and if you haven't bought a present yet you might be panicking. Take a deep breath. It will be okay. If you find yourself in this bind or on a tight budget, here are a few "gifts" that won't cost you anything but may mean more than that box of chocolates you were considering.
CLEAN HER HOME If the mom in your life stays at home or works from home, why don't you clean her home this weekend? You may do some of the chores already, but add all of the chores she usually does over a weekend. This might give her that time to do that she loves that usually gets pushed aside.
Most moms I know are sleep deprived (including myself). Let your mom and/or spouse sleep in this Mother's Day. Round up the rest of the family, get them away from the bedroom, and make brunch. This can be fun for the family and mom will get that rest she's been craving with a nice breakfast to boot!
DO THE THING SHE'S BEEN ASKING YOU TO DO
Has the mom in your life been asking you to do something for her or the family? DO IT. If she's asked you more than once she may be burning up some of her precious supply of patience. Show her you love her by doing what she asked you to do and do it well. The fact that you listened and acted may mean way more to your mom than you realize.
GO TO A FAVOURITE PLACE
Everyone has a few local places they love to visit. A favourite park or nearby nature spot won't add any cost, but can show mom that you care about what she likes. There is also the added bonus that getting out will get mom away from anything that may be stressing her out at home.
SHOW HER SHE IS APPRECIATED
Let's face it, Mother's Day is either about your mom or your spouse (or both). You've probably learned some little things you can do that show the mom in your life you appreciate them. Do those things this weekend. Or make a commitment to do them more regularly this year and follow through.
This weekend is about love and appreciation and hopefully giving mom a break. We hope these ideas help and that you enjoy showing mom you care.
